Ron Ryles of Memphis, TN, is the current Visual Caption Head for the award winning Dragon Regiment of Collierville High School (TN). He also serves as the Co-Director of the Collierville High School Winter Guard Program, as well as a Drum Major/Leadership Instructor for Superior Band Camps of Orlando, FL. In addition to instructing, Ron is a visual adjudicator for the United States Scholastic Band Association (NJ). Ron has worked with numerous musical organizations in various capacities. Under his assistance as an instructor, many groups have gone on to generate history within their respected organization. His teaching experiences consist of JSU Center Stage World Winter Guard (AL), Xperiment Winter Guard (TN), Middle Georgia College, the Blue Stars (WI), the Colts (IA), the Americanos (WI), Memphis Sound (TN) and several high schools throughout Georgia, Kansas, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Tennessee. In the summer of 2000, Ron served as an assistant to the tour director of the 8 time DCI World Champions, the Cadets. As a performer, he is an alumnus of the renowned Jacksonville State University "Marching Southerners" and the 1992 DCI Division II World Champions, Southwind Drum & Bugle Corps. While attending Jacksonville State University, he was voted as a drum major candidate, the second freshman to attain this merit in the school of music’s extensive history. In 1994 as the Drum Major of Southwind, the publication Drum Corps World voted Ron as DCI’s top conductor. |
