LaVar R. Jernigan is the band and choir director at Moore County High School/Middle School in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Since his hiring in July of 2002, both the Moore County instrumental music and vocal music programs have grown numerically and musically. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, from which he received his Bachelor and Master degrees in music education. He is an active staff member for several middle Tennessee bands, and his duties range from drill designer to private lesson teacher. Currently, Mr. Jernigan is pursuing his doctoral degree in education. He is an active member of MTSBOA, MENC, TMEA, TLBDA, TMVA, Phi Kappa Phi, and Golden Key Honor Society.
