David is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music Education. He is a member and past president of the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association. He served on the Tennessee Music Educators Association board for six years. He is a member of Phi Beta Mu, Tennessee Bandmasters Association, and Music Educators National Conference.

David was a member of Madison Scouts in 1980. He served as part of the visual staff for the Madison Scouts from 1998-2002. He was part of the design team from 1999-2002 and was co-drill writer from 1999-2002 and served as visual caption head in 2002. He has written and designed drills for numerous high school bands in Tennessee, Ohio, Florida, Michigan and Texas.

David has been band director of Humboldt High School in Humboldt, Tennessee for the past fourteen years. He is also the drill writer and visual caption head for Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps.
